Custom Order Gallery
Please take a look at some fine examples of the many exquisite custom orders we have had the priviledge of  commissioning through the years.
This beautiful weaving was a custom design for a customer who wanted all natural fibers and very little dyes used, it came out perfect.
Weaver in action meticulously creating a traditional zaptoc design.
Weavings can take 6 weeks to months depending on the complexity of the design.

This 2.5 x 18 ft custom hall runner was designed with bright reds, blues and pecan dyes. The red dye is created from the cochineal larvae and the blue is indigo from the indigo plant in the above photo. The weaving was created by Zacarias Ruiz and is a traditional zapotec design. It is rare to see such a long hall runner but the client wanted a runner that would run up the center of a staircase in their lake house. This is of course the beauty of custom order weavings which can be created to fit any space you are decorating.
This custom order had alot of design detail and used alot of the natural marigold and moss dyes.
Requests for 10 ft hall runners are rare but the customer wanted one that length and our weavers created this beautiful hall runner for them.
New Zealand mohair wool is imported for special orders.
This beautiful 9 x 20 weaving has a soft green background created by making a dye from the Aguave Cactus. The same cactus used to make tequila.
This custom order design is known as the tree of life the client wanted primarily red and bright colors for the order.
This is Felipe Gutierrez Sr. and his son and family business manager Armando Gutierrez. It has been my priviledge to call them true friends and business associates for over thirty years. Here they are cutting loose wool from the rugs and preparing them for shipment.

This young man is just 12 years old and is proudly displaying his first weaving. It is encouraging that the Zapotec culture continues to pass this incredible skill and talent onto a future generation of Zapotec weavers. It is interesting to note the complex designs and natural wools he worked into his first weaving.

This weaver has chosen to use all natural undyed wools, the end result is spectacular but the process is slower as the weaver must find natural wools to match their design plan.

Once the rugs have been woven they are hand washed, dried and picked and carded by hand to create a nice finish to the rug. This can be a lengthy process and adds to the fine quality of each weaving.

This popular lodge style rug is in the process of being woven.
This the completed lodge style design from the above loom.  The rug was a custom order for Lost Planet Medias' corporate office.
